Deb and Don had a planned vacation to go to Kauai for Thanksgiving I believe before Deb's diagnoses. In September during her recovery, still in the hospital she decided that swimming with the dolphins would be a great plan to help in her journey back to health. Well she made it, after her 3rd dose of chemo they left on a two week trip, first to California to see her good friend Bev's daughter get married and visit with Don's family. She had a bad cold but she hung in there and had a good time. Matt and I met them on the Big Island of Hawaii along with Mary and John. We all had a fantastic time swimming with the dolphins which was amazing and I'm sure very healing for all of us. Sheoli our host was able to find the dolphins twice, she is amazing her self. The dolphins love and enjoy swimming and playing with her which she has done for many years. If you ever want a wonderful experience check out her website (awakeninginparadise.com). We had a wonderful private room plus bathroom and the use of her kitchen, family room and beautiful deck over looking the ocean. What a treat for the six of us to be together in such a beautiful place and knowing what this was doing for Deb's health. She was amazing, she out snorkeled all of us I think at least 2 hours one day. The water and sea life was so beautiful for all of us to see and enjoy. Deb and Don renewed their vows after 34 years of marriage with the sun setting over the ocean for the back drop. We were on a bit of sand and volcanic rock which flowed to the ocean, in a state park called the (Place of refuge) which has a wonderful story of history itself. Deb and Don then went to the Island of Kauai and spent another week soaking up the sun, visiting Jim Marten, his family, and Walt and Pam McCoy. She came home more beautiful and with a great tan.
She has been through alot with 2 more doses of chemo to go. I realize it has been a very difficult journey, she gets tired easier, the chemo port really was very painfull for weeks, I cant imagine losing my hair which she has done with grace and at least 4 wigs, and I am so proud of her, she is even more incredible than before this all started.
I love you Deb, your sis Wendy
